OK, Here's what happened... Michael Costello has reprimanded me for not keeping this up to date. The group photo of the band lineup (elsewhere on this blog) is the subject of discussion and Michael's reprimand directed to me. This is his email to me:
Hello ,Young Leo!,
Great to hear from you again.I have looked at the Scan of the photo and Tom Ginley, your cousin also looked at it and supplied identification..The other three men are Tom Ginley`s father,(holding the flute),the piper is John McAleer, and the man behind him between the 2 Ginleys is called William Barfoot. He`s the man who sold Leo a fiddle ,which Leo sold to me.I still have it.So thats one mystery cleared up! I`m glad you are gathering together all the info you can about Leo.I can still see him coming out of McCartan`s bookies with a little plastic portable chess set under his arm.He would play the punters in there for a few quid to back on horses .He always took their money! and I Would slag him by saying"any of those fellas beat you today Leo?" He used to reply-" I think you know the answer to that one Mick! Its like taking sweets off children!!"
Keep in touch ,Michael Costello
Now, I hope that sorts it out.. Thanks Michael!

In the Shadow of the Gunmen TIME
I found this article in Time Magazine's Archives, and thought ; When someone asks "What is it all about in Ireland?" that this is the best synopsis of a thousand years of Irish history I could offer them. I think it's pretty well balanced, and have reached that conclusion by realising that hard liners from both sides of the issue would probably feel hard-done-by.
